    Chennai, Aug. 2. 2017 It was indeed a grand event!26th July 2017!
    Salesian Polytechnic College had the Inauguration of its Clubs for the Academic Year 2017-18.

    The Chief Guest was Rev. Fr. Don Bosco Lourdusamy SDB, the Vice-Provincial of INM, Chennai Province.

    The Resource Person was Rev. Fr. Mani Lazar SDB, the INM Province Youth Director and also former Vice-Principal and Dean of SIGA.

    Rev. Fr. John Christy SDB, the Rector, Rev. Fr. P.T. Joseph SDB, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Stalin SDB, the Vice-Rector & Asst. Manager, Rev. Fr. Charles Gasper SDB, the Vice-Principal and Administrator were present
    Date 26 July Youth Pastoral Day as an event to emphasis the implementation of congregation and Province Policy on Salesian Youth Movement.

    The 24 clubs are grouped under 4+2 Dimensions of our province and animated at various levels: Province delegates of various commissions coordinated by province SYM delegate assist in policy implementation and animation of clubs, College Staff Coordinators and club leaders formulate EPP along with Vice Principal who mentor the club activities. EPP is approved by the House Council. The monitoring and reporting of events goes bottom-up. Club Leaders report to The Assistant College Public Leader who in turn reports to Principal. Principal communicates important initiatives to Vice Provincial with an understanding with Rector.

    The news coverage is managed by BIS Team at house and province level. Clubs post their events in their social channels. Principal hand picks online data for College FB and advocacy.

    Fr. Bosco wishes that every Technical Institute of Chennai Province replicate this initiative of SIGA as a model and promote Youth Pastoral Day in all our campus.

    Fr. Mani insists that these clubs are a part of worldwide youth movement of Salesians and are not to be seen merely as a club events. These clubs create new friends and support system for individuals not only within the college but across the nation and worldwide with specific Don Bosco identity.
